How do I get a web server behind a firewall to see IP addresses of remote hosts as if there were no firewall? I am using Squid proxy on the firewall, and Apache/PHP on the webserver. Squid appends the IP of remote hosts to the "X-FORWARDED-FOR" HTTP header, but accessing this is clunky. I have to write special code in each of my PHP scripts to read that header variable. I also have a phpBB installation and it logs IPs, and they all appear as 192.168.1.1 (the internal IP of our firewall). I am looking for a global config solution that would pass thru IP's so that phpBB (and apache access logs) show correct external IP addresses without modifying any phpBB code. Here's the critical detail, I can't do port forwarding because we are hosting sites on more than one server inside the firewall. So port 80 won't always go to the same internal IP. We direct traffic to the right internal IP, then, based on the domain requested. That's what Squid proxy does. Now you see the problem...

How can I add a remote building to my wired network? I have a wired network in a big building. I need to connect a remote building to our network. There is another building inbetween the two. We originally tried to go wireless but the building is made with double cinder blocks with a brick core. We couldn't get a signal in a room next to wireless router. So we opted to go with a wired network. The main building is fine, no issues. I even have wireless located in a comp lab, hosting 30 computers. The remote building is on one side of city block, while main building is on opposite side. Any suggestions?

In Javascript SRC tags - FF grants access to the cookie for the remote site, but IE does not. Any ideas? Trying to make a remote hosted widget that keeps track of some previous information. Firefox grants access to the remote site's cookies, but IE doesn't seem to. eg: Site X calls a script on site Y - FF gives access to site Y cookies, IE seems to only grant access to site X cookies. When I send a command with Wake on LAN EX, nothing happens on the remote computer, and I get the message: Event sent. If it didn't work, make sure you have a valid user account on the remote host.
