Affiliate Marketing...do i choose the niche first or affiliate product?

If I'm setting up an affiliate site should i think of a niche first and then try to find the affiliate product or is it the other way around??? thankx

1. Find your niche first, then concentrate to find the products to fill the niche.

2. I'm guessing this is an assignment? In the real world you choose your affiliates based on compatability with your own T&S - therefore niche first, product second. But in an assignment it doesn't matter so long as you can demonstrate your logic
