What is the best way for a marketing consultant to structure a pay-for-performance fee plan with a client?

I'm starting a marketing consulting business and want to structure deals where I can get a percentage of new sales from my clients as a result of my marketing suggestions. Jay Abraham advocates these types of deals in a lot of this marketing books.

I can't really find a lot of good examples online about exactly how to do this. If you're a consultant, have you ever structured deals this? If so, how and what resources can I use to further research this?
