Are Stock Brokers Gonna Be Around For A Long Time?
Im 19 years old and ready to go to school to become a stock broker. I was just wondering since our generations are changing and our technology is at it's peak with etrade and other firms like it. Is the Generation of Stock Brokers dying since its been around for a long time. Or is it still the hottest thing out and will be for a long time?
when i mean a long time i mean about 15 to 40 years into the future.

1. It'll be around for a while since some people become rich off the stock market while other people who are rich are too retarded to know how to invest. Case in point there will always be lawyers, doctors, actors, NFL players, real estate agents who unlike individual investors that day trade don't know the american or world market and what stocks to buy so you can charge them commission fees for their lack of knowledge of technical or fundamental analysis.
2. hopefully not
they are an anachronistic breed of parasites
the 1st answer seemed to state that a stock broker knows about the stock market
don't you believe it
3. It depends what you mean.
Stock broker as in brokerage house will be around for a long time. They are the pipeline to the exchanges and ECNs.
Stock broker as in the dude with the plush office who makes a huge commission giving one-on-one advice? I've been in stock for over 30 years and these people are getting fewer and fewer and it's no longer the license to print money like it was in the early 70s when commission rates were fixed at an artificially high rate. I suppose there will always be some people who want their hand held and will be willing to pay for it, Middle aged guys like me are finding online trading to be superior. Your generation is going to be even more online because you grew up with it. Look at your friends now. They will be the customers of the future. Are they going to want to hang out and wait in somebody's office or are they going to want to click-click and get it done and move on?
4. Probably, just as there are stupid or lazy employee's there are stupid or lazy investors who need someone to do the work for them.
5. well yes, they do all the work for those who have millions and want to invest some and want pro's to do it, but with sites like http://friends.zecco.com/r/03e172105a27102b8555
its harder, since people go into it themselves, and this site even charges you only $4.50 per trade.
and they have forums where you can look into what others are saying about this or that stock.
But i think if you can build up your company with good investors you will do good, and then invest for your self too :)
