Do online stock brokers give preference to some customers over others when it comes to placing orders?

I am with Firstrade, and i see some orders being fulfilled at the same price I placed my orders, yet mine goes unfulfilled...
Do you have an explanation then?

Public Comments

1. NO IT IS NOT LIKE THAT

2. Yes, this apparently happens. There is no way to stop it because it relates to the market maker (for OTC stocks) and the specialist (for exchange listed stocks). The "rules" are designed not for you the public investor to be protected, but really for the market maker and specialist to trade against you. Guess who usually wins.
