I am thinking about day trading. Do many people do it from home? what are the advantages to joining a firm?
What is needed to day trade from home effectively, if this is possible?

1. From a practical standpoint, it is a good job if you're very good at it. However, it's extremely demanding, stressful, and reliant on your knowledge of the markets (macro & micro).
2. You look like you might be a pirate and I don't really recommmend pirates being involved in day trading...
3. My father did daily trading from home. Unfortunately in his experience it did not go very well.
I know he needed at least 5,000.00 put into his account in order to trade daily. He did like the daily trading though. In daily trading, you have to be sure you are keeping up with the stocks you are investing in. It is very time consuming however it is only open from 9am to 5pm so you really aren't working after closing bell. I would recommend it if you know your stuff. It of course is a risky business but can be very profitable if you have done your homework.
