Do you have to have a pawn brokers license to work in a pawn shop?

I have a job interview tomorrow with EZ Pawn. I'll be starting out entry level. Do I have to get a pawn brokers license to work there?

Public Comments

1. It depends on the laws wherever EZ Pawn is located. But, in most U.S. jurisdictions, only the owner of the business requires a pawnbroker's license, to assure police that the pawnshop keeps appropriate records, doesn't deal in stolen goods, and is staying within the small lending practice laws of that state.

Good luck on your interview!

2. No, you don't. Only the owner needs the license to operate the business. Employees just need to be trained in the regulations and policies for pawning.
