1. First of all, there is no longer any stock exchange market. It is all now electronic.
Unless you are prepared to sart in a clerical job and work your way up, you need either a degree or banking qualifications to get a job in the securities industry.
2. Thses are example of the qualifications for you to be concerned if you wish to work at the stock exchange.
BS/BA in Finance or Accounting
supervisory experience
Detail-oriented with strong analytical/problem solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business teams
Working knowledge of general accounting principles and concepts
Knowledge of internal control concepts and principles
experience with Great Plains accounting software a plus
Below is the exercise of my roommate's homework lets see how you can solve it
A company is planning a four-week promotion.
Normal weekly sales (without promotion) 4200 unit at 5.6 per unit
Normal contribution margin, 40% of normal selling price
Normal selling price reduced by 20% during the promotion
Expected weekly sales during promotion are 8,900 units
Sales multiplier is 2.12 units (that is 8900/2400)
Fixed costs incurred to run the promotion are forecast to be 3,600. Unit variable cost would expected to remain the same level as normal (note! this figure is the main point of my confusion)
Required: calculate
(a) Incremental profit/(loss) from promotion
(b) the required contribution
(c) required sales volume in units, and sales unit multiplier
that would be required to give the same profit during the promotion period.
