What is the NY stock exchange symbol for crude oil?

Every day I read and hear about crude oil closing at different prices on the NY stock exchange. When I try to find the symbol I get many different symbols. Any one know which one I would use to check it by the hour, I mean the one they use in the news broadcasts every day and on the radio.
I just heard it was around $55.00 but that doesn't tell me how to find it myself.

1. There are various oils and prices. Check NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange)
Oil is traded with Futures not stocks. Although there are ETFs like CRUD

2. Im interested in this too. The $55 oil is the light crude I believe. They are traded in futures on the NYMEX.

3. People invest in oil by using day trading futures. The stocks you think that is involved is in the actual refiners.
For the 55 you speak of investors make money whether it does up or down by trading per tick.
Look up oil futures trading and you will see.

4. Crude oil does not trade on the NYSE.

Only stocks listed on the NYSE, trade on the NYSE.

Oil, being a commodity, trades on the NYMEX.
