Is there any restriction that I have to sell a stock [bought for day trading purpose] at that day?
Suppose I bought 10 stocks of xyz with the purpose of day trading...but the stock price go down heavily during the day....is there any rule that I have to sell it at that day before market closes or may I hold it for next day or longer?

1. Day trading is more a strategy where an investor buys and sells based on short-term fundamentals and technical indicators with no intention of holding longer-term.
While you have no obligation to sell a stock the same day it is bought keep in mind that if you are using day trading as a strategy then it is a violation of the strategy to hold a losing trade; particularly where a stock has gone down significantly in a day. Successful day traders have very specific exit points both above and below their entry price.
One danger of holding a losing trade is you stop being a day trader and become a long-term investor hoping for a price recovery.
2. You need not sell the stock for day trading. It is mandatory in Intraday. Whether you make profit or loss, you need to square it for by evening. If are hinting for good calls on Delivery and Interday with buy and sell signals then I can suggest you the best site I have visited.

3. yes at some brokers you have to sell the stock which you bought on the same day before 3pm on the same day
some brokers will allow to sell the same after 3 to 5 days

4. you have to square off your position for the day in intraday before the market closes.. if you wont do that, the stocks will automatically square off their position.
5. The law of the land does not prohibit a day trader from becoming an investor.U have bought 10 stocks in anticipation of rise in prices. It did not happen n u do not want to book loss. So,pay the price n take delivery n sell as n when the price suits u.
So,there is no bar to take delivery od the stock bought for inter day purpose.
