Im starting a Private Wealth Investment company(No Stock trading) what do I need to get started?

The clients would be investing in privately held businesses that generate cash. Do I need to file with the SEC since there is no stock trading to generate returns?

2. Partner with someone who knows the PWM industry, hire a consulting firm, or work for a firm and learn the ropes. Don't start a business half-cocked.
