1. I didn't "day trade", but I did some trading using Etrade. I would stay away from Ameritrade, only because of some id fraud that happened with me. One year I get my taxes back, and all of a sudden I get slammed with a $14k bill from the IRS!!! Come to find out Ameritrade opened an account for this guy who used my ssn as his business Id! I thought those numbers were a very specific amount of numbers to include letters?!? Well, they didn't catch it and I suffered for it. It took two years for me to clear that up. And of course the burden of proof was on me!!! I hate the IRS.... AND Ameritrade. Ameritrade, soon started treating me like a second hand citizen and not being too helpful cleaning up a mess they facilitated!!! I didn't use a lawyer, and I hate the fact that it is the only way to get people to cooperate in such situations. Anyway sorry for the rant, but I'm sure you can understand why. Hope this helps you in your brokerage firm quest!!

2. I would go with Scottrade.

But I would also invest and not daytrade.
