Brokerage House Recommendation?

Hi there folks. I plan to start trading now that I am partially free with a decent $25k start up capital I have. Anyone recommend a good discount brokerage house(etrade, scottrade, schwab, tdameritrade etc). I've been told by two mates that etrade is decent for amateur traders. Plan on trading on average 5 trades per day so will be looking for a brokerage firm with cheap transactional costs for scalpers. Etrade rep tells me their power trade platform is ideal for me? Anyone have an idea on this platform and uses it. I am concerned about their $9.99 offer, although the lady did tell me she will try to lower it down to $7.99 as I am a potential active trader.

Schwab guy was more forthcoming and offered $8.95 and no limit to the number or shares I can buy(unlike etrade’s 2k limit beyond which $0.015 is levied per share). Any idea on which of the two is better or perhaps recommend another brokerage firm. Good data feed is also a plus.

Thanks all.

1. I would recommend http://www.InteractiveTraders.com

Lots of professionals trade on that platform.

2. I think Terry S meant: www.InteractiveBrokers.com, great pricing, poor service, worst place for a new trader.

Schwab would be my first choice for you. I used Schwab for 30 years, I then switched to Scottrade (cheaper, but not as good).

Today I use; http://www.thinkorswim.com/
This is a broker you'll want to deal with after about 5 years of trading experience.

3. this is what You have to choose yourself.
I found a bit raw but well working stockbroker comparing portal.
Just choose market and then insert amount of money and number of trades and portal gives You overview companies what are most suitable for You.
