How much do stock brokers earn annually?

How much do they start out earning. And much does that progress to?

Public Comments

1. Probably too much, especially at the moment when we're all supposed to be poor.

2. They earn as much as they want to earn. If they're clever they know where to invest, if they can talk they can get people to invest, if they research they know when to buy and sell.

I don't care how much they earn, it's widely known that stock brokers are some of the most stressed and depressed workers - read Cityboy or The wolf of wall street - both amazing books giving a great insight into their work

3. The big-time brokers, the ones who pay off Obama, earn huge bonuses and receive tax-payer funded bailouts.

4. varies massively, as does a footballer. Asking how much a footballer earns, well some earn 10s of millions some pay to play the game

Brokers generally are a talentless waste of space. They're just middlemen who profit whether the buyer or seller wins or loses, I envy them, but they are scum!!

VODA above is right, I'm in this situation, I'm caught in a job I hate, as are 85% of the City, but I earn too much to quit. I know it sounds strange, but it's a drug (and not a nice one). The glamour lifestyle you imagine for millionaires in the City is far from it, FAR FAR FAR FAR from it

5. From £15000 to 000,000's. In brokers language that's known as a 'wide spread'!

6. How long is a piece of string?
There is no real answer to your question. Some stockbrokers make millions. Others lose millions

7. Most regular stock brokers are paid on a commission basis. A percentage of their customer's commissions are paid to the broker.

When starting out, most major firms will pay them a salary while they are learning the markets, the products and obtaining their licenses. Once they are fully licensed, the salary usually stops and they are commission only

When reps are commissioned, their's no maximium they can earn. Those that constantly study and are aware of the various markets and products can easily make mid to high 6 number salary.

Sales reps that service institutions or sophisicated wealthy customers are paid a very decent salary rather than sharing in the commissions. Most of these reps also share in the profit of the firm (not the client) by way of a periodic bonus.

8. Depends on the How much volumes they can generates from there clients
