How does IBAN work, and is it similar to MoneyBookers,etc.?

I opened an IBAN in order to get paid internationally , and was wondering can someone pay me through their PayPal ? More detailed explanation on how it works would be great,

1. Not quite. The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a number that will allow any sender to find your bank, bank branch and account number all in one go. MoneyBookers, PayPal and all these others are the ones using the IBAN number to receive and send money for you.
