What is a stock ticker symbol for oil ?

I want to compare the price of oil against another company. The company is a solar company and I want to compare the price of that stock against the price of a barrel of oil. Is there a stock symbol I can use to determine the price of oil and compare it to the solar company against a graph? I know oil is not a stock, it is a commodity. But there should be a symbol for reference.

My intent is to go to yahoo finance, insert both of the symbols on the graph and have them both plotted on the same graph so I can follow the trend.

Thanks

1. The name of the index for the price of a barrel of oil is called $WTIC (Light Sweet Crude Oil)

If you just want compare percentage wise, you can use the OIL ETF. I think it follows the price of the barrel of oil very closely.

2. You could try the following exchange traded fund code:

USO - United States Oil ETF
