Why would a company have shares on a foreign stock exchange that have a different price?

It has the same symbol, but it is in a stock exchange in another country and has a different price, why is that?

1. The share price is based on what people are willing to pay for the share, not the actual value. This could be different in different countries.

In addition, the chances are that the company is registered in both countries, and hence is actually a different legal entity. As such, the shares you buy in one place are not the same as the shares in the other place.

2. If you buy a bottle of Coke, is it the same price everywhere in the world. It basically is the same thing.
