Can you do day trading on Scottrade?

Hi, if you open an account at Scottrade and would like to hold stocks for periods as short as, say, a few days, despite the fact that you lose $7 per each transaction (the buy and the sell), and possibly about 50% of the profit in taxes, are there any other penalties or taxes/fees, or rules that would prohibit you from doing it?

1. You need 25k in your account & you can trade your little heart out.

2. Yes you can day trade in a Scottrade account.
It's highly suggested that you do it in a margin account so you don't have settlement problems.
Obviously the you must meet FINRA/SEC requirement of $25,000 balance.

It would be ridiculous to day trade without;
An excellent understanding of Technical Analysis.
An excellent skill at money management including position sizing skills and the skill to keep you risk reward ratio above 1/2.

Since over 90% of those that try day trading fail miserably..... taking a year to get the basic skills would be a great idea.

There are many "rules" "ideas" etc regarding taxes and general profiability of trading.... but many people do this (myself included) and make money. This will be (more than likely) the most dificult thing you've ever done. The hours you put in are ridiculous... but it becomes a passion... so it's really not "bad".

Why Scottrade????? There are much better choices for day trading. Take a year to find the one that will be best for you.
