Is there a technical term used by stock brokers to describe start up(new) companies who need investors?

stock brokers(or anyone in the investment business)

.....need investors to begin the first phase of their business plan. Lets also assume said company hasn't yet started started making any type of profit becuase they are only in the "conceptual pitch stage". What would be the term for this type of company? How would one go about searching for companies that are in the "stage" descibed above?
